The Fanwood Historic Preservation Commission was established by Ordinance of the Borough of Fanwood to assist the Borough in the identification of resources which are of historic significance and to advise all Borough agencies regarding goals and techniques of historic preservation.
The Commission collects and disseminates material on the importance of historic preservation and advises property owners, citizen groups and individuals in the Borough interested in establishing landmarks and historic districts. The Commission and the Borough have undertaken a survey of a potential Historic District in the "Fanwood Park" area of Fanwood, north of the train station. There are many buildings in "Fanwood Park" representative of the development of the suburban commuter community in America.
The Historic Preservation Commission generally meets the third Tuesday of each month (with the exception of January, July, August or December) at the Community House at 7:15PM. Watch the Community Calendar for exact dates.
Also available on-line is the Fanwood Historic Preservation Commission´s Report and Accomplishments for 2000 & 2001.
